MegaKoszulki.pl embarked on a strategic website overhaul to revitalize its digital storefront in the face of intensifying competition. This initiative was crucial to not only modernize the site’s appearance but to make a leap forward in the way products are presented. The key to this undertaking was creating a fluid and seamless experience that would encourage users to explore, design, and purchase with ease. Through a meticulous analysis of current trends and user expectations, the project laid the groundwork for a sophisticated yet intuitive online shopping environment. The endeavor sought to reposition MegaKoszulki.pl not just as a retailer, but as a platform for creativity and self-expression.
The challenge was multifaceted, requiring a delicate balance between aesthetic appeal and functional optimization. The website, steeped in an outdated visual identity, needed to be brought up to speed with a fresh, responsive design. Key to the transformation was the enhancement of product displays and category navigation, which had to be reimagined to facilitate better user decision-making. Furthermore, the checkout process was identified as a critical juncture, needing simplification to prevent abandonment and encourage completion of purchases. In addressing these challenges, the project was driven by a dual focus on elevating the user experience and achieving measurable improvements in conversion rates and customer satisfaction.
Leading the User Interface Revamp:
Setting the Course for a Digital Renaissance:
Establishing Parameters for a Focused Website Evolution:
The project’s inception was marked by an innovative overhaul of product mockups on the existing website. The remarkable improvement in how products were visualized sparked the decision to undertake a full-scale website transformation.
Leveraging Photoshop actions and the advanced capabilities of Image Processor Pro, a groundbreaking process was developed. This allowed for the mass production of new mockups based on specific product designs and colors provided by the development team, significantly reducing the time and resources required.
The meticulous creation of each mockup utilized displacement maps to accurately simulate fabric folds and contours, along with shadow and highlight layers for added realism. This approach ensured that products were presented in a highly realistic yet clear manner, elevating the online shopping experience.
With the foundation laid by the new mockups, the UI design phase aimed to align the website’s look and feel with its enhanced product presentation. A modern color scheme and coherent typography were selected to complement the realism of the mockups.
The redesign emphasized enhancing visibility and accessibility of product categories through strategic promotion on the homepage, within categories, product pages, and the navigation menu, complemented by a new multi-search feature. While filters on category pages saw minimal changes, their presentation, especially on mobile devices, was significantly improved. This focus ensured a seamless and user-friendly shopping experience across all device types.
Recognizing the growing predominance of mobile shopping, special emphasis was placed on optimizing the mobile user experience. A short video will be featured to demonstrate the fluidity and responsiveness of the mobile view, showcasing how users can effortlessly interact with the site on any device.
Although the new custom print creator was developed by a third-party firm, my role was pivotal in directing users towards this feature not just via menu options but also through contextual cues within content, such as on product lists and beside the product gallery. This strategic placement aimed to streamline the user journey towards customization.
Prototyping played a critical role in the design process, with high-fidelity prototypes being developed to test and refine the UI. This iterative approach allowed for rapid validation of design concepts and functionalities, ensuring a seamless user experience across the site.
A major focus was placed on overhauling the shopping cart and checkout process to minimize distractions and reduce abandonment rates. The new design streamlined the journey from cart to completion, making it quicker and more intuitive for users.
The user panel received a comprehensive redesign, aimed at enhancing functionality and improving the overall user experience. This included a more intuitive help center and easier access to account settings and order history, reinforcing user confidence and satisfaction with the platform.
This project was my first deep dive into UI design. Starting with Sketch and exploring Framer for interactive prototyping. Plugins like Content Generator (Replace) significantly streamlined the process, allowing for quick visualization of products on the website, replacing dozens of product photos with a single click. The project’s internal setting allowed for a more flexible timeline and substantial support, facilitating this accelerated learning process.
The project was not just a technical learning experience but also an opportunity to adapt my learning strategies and working styles to meet the demands of UI design. The supportive environment at Reflect Group was instrumental in my rapid progression from a Senior Graphic Designer to a role resembling a Creative Director, and subsequently moving on to a Product Designer position at a new company.
By the time the project had gone through coding, testing, and final implementations, I had already transitioned to a new role outside of Reflect Group, armed with a wealth of knowledge gained from this extensive project. Unfortunately, I was unable to witness the project’s long-term results directly due to subsequent changes in the company and the impact of the pandemic, both altered how the website evolved from my original design.
